Alsatian Godzilla

Popped into town briefly today in between spring rain downpours and was surprised at finding this beast in front of the Temple de St Etienne! You just never know ;)

The temple was built in 1850 on the spot of a former romanesque building dating back to the 12th century. I wonder what people from that era would think of today's sight?
