Afternoon Moon over Prices Valley
Another trip to the lakeside today, this time the view is from along the rail trail at Stony Point, looking inland towards the hills above Prices Valley.
The mai mais in the foreground were silent today (much more comfortable than hearing gunshots when you're walking along the rail trail, like last night), with the result that the lake near the shore was full of wading birds. Just out of range of my lens (I need a teleconverter for the 120-300!) was a group of four White Heron/Kotuku, mingling amongst a crown of Royal Spoonbills, not mention countless ducks and pied stilts.
A few birds were brave enough to swim around the hides, as in this shot. If you go large you'll also spy a White Faced Heron keeping dead still on a fencepost in the foreground.
Also, a big thanks to everyone who commented, favourited and rated yesterday's sunset on the lakeside yesterday and for helping it along to the spotlight.
