Signs of Spring

Finally! We came home from a week in Florida to these surprise bouquets by the driveway.

Six weeks ago these cheery gifts were quietly, patiently plotting their annual debut as they lay buried under a deep, crusty, plow-packed bank of snow.

While we were immersed in it, this winter seemed endless. In February and March the potential beauty of these always-faithful spring flowers never once crossed my mind or made an appearance in my imagination as an antidote to the dreary landscape.

Maybe next year I'll keep them in mind.
