How the heck did I get in here?

This swallow flew into the East Campus Building this morning through the front door, left ajar to air the place out on this warm, sunny day. Poor guy didn't know how he got there nor how to get out. We opened all the nearby doors, called security since someone said they had a bird net, and while waiting tried to coax him out. He flew around the vaulted ceiling up to the second floor mezzanine, where he sat briefly on the balustrade right outside my office door, and where I was able to snap this picture. The backdrop is a Japanese paper and bamboo umbrella we just happened to affix to the wall yesterday out of boredom and the need to beautify our surroundings. After he perched for a moment, no doubt worn out from all his anxious swooping and fluttering about, he headed down the upstairs hallway to the door I had opened at the back of the building and disappeared outside, thus ending his and our rousing adventure for the day. :)

Thanks for the views on the hovering bee. I was hoping Pete would have taken care of the problem by the time I got home from work, while at the same time hoping he hadn't since if he gets stung, it's not pleasant. I had to rush him to the ER once. The bees are still there, so I'm making him go out the back door until we can get rid of them.
