Railway Bridge

Whilst out cycling in the Berkshire Downs we stopped on this old railway bridge, near Hampstead Norreys. As you can see there is a dandelion growing through a gap in the deteriorating concrete.
This was part of the Newbury - Didcot line, which opened in 1882 and closed in 1964. It is strange to think that this was an important link in the 2nd World War, with the movement of troops and equipment. It also served a nearby airport - now gone.
Nothing is permanent and everything we take for granted today could be consiged to history, in a very short time.
