After the successful weekend taking photographs of birds, I have revisited my new years resolution and vowed to take lunch breaks.

Today I visited Hubbards Hills in the pouring rain. I got some wonderful shots of some very wet and bedraggled garden birds and then something caught my eye. I got one shot that was very mediocre before a large car blocked my view by parking right next to me.

I walked in the grounds and took more beautiful birds and rabbit shots, returning to my car as the occupiers of the large people carrier parked next to me drove away. I sat in the passenger side with the window down and camera at the ready. I thought I may have to wait some time, but no, within a few minutes I saw the red flash again and this shy little bird walked down the tree. Hiding and peeping out from the branches, then a full rear view and side on. My very first woodpecker sighting, and I captured it for posterity!!! Delighted
