Cricket 1 - Priory Park, Chichester

With a visit to Chichester today, I went off on a walk round and in Priory Park, a Cricket match was in progess this afternoon.

I had indicated in a reply some time ago that I would photograph some different Cricket Grounds and matches and this is the first offering. I have started to develop some interest in Cricket, but Hockey remains the favourite sport of all to watch. With Cricket, there is though, something quintessentially English about it and this particular location is a good start to a series of pictures.

Chichester's Priory Park Cricket Club was founded in 1851, the same year as the Great Exhibition in London and ten years before the collapse of the Chichester Cathedral Spire. The Club Website also states that it has particularly strong connections with the birth of Test Cricket. It has teams of all ages and for women also. This appears to be the 2nds Team playing against Cuckfield. The bank in the background is a part of the City Walls that date back to Roman times.
