Patients pays off

Brighter in large.

Until this year, the yellow-rumped warblers usually just appear for a few days as they migrate through our area. But with this strangely long winter we've been having had, these sweet little birds decided not to go any farther north and stayed around us this year. I've posted them a few times, but haven't been totally happy with the images that I ended up with. They are quite a challenge to get a decent shot of; as they are quick, tiny and contrasty in coloring. But recently I have made it a goal to get a better image.

The winning combo, so far, turned out to be: a tripod, evening light (not too harsh to blowout the white feathers, but enough to use a fast shutter), a closer vantage point (this is where the patients came in, as they had to get used to me standing very still for very long before they'd come back) and lots of luck (and tons of images)... :)
