A Wildly CLOSE Encounter...........

After my sunrise shoot yesterday I decided I would take a change of scene today. I had been told about a National Park quite close to us called Girrakool which has some waterfalls and rock pools. Armed with my wide angle and two young sons complete with tadpole catching gear we headed on the 45 min circuit track. As it happens it has been reasonably dry for the last week or so and the falls were more of a trickle. There were no tadpoles to be found! Some pretty little wildflowers along the track and so I changed over to my 50 mm but it was a little breezy and they were waving in the wind and not easy to capture.
When we arrived back at the car parking area and started putting our gear in the car we heard a thump in the bush about 50 metres away. We decided to go and investigate and were delighted to come across this little guy!
Having only recently returned to Australia after years living overseas we were thrilled to be able to get within such a close distance of a wild wallaby ( probably about 4-5 metres). I managed to change to my 24-105 mm lens, chose a shallow aperture to try to de-emphasis the heavy foliage and was thrilled with the result.

It truly was a magical close encounter with a WALLABY WANNABEE!

A very big thank you for all the lovely comments, stars and faves that helped my sunrise shot at Forrester's Beach from yesterday to hit the Spotlight!
