Going to the Match

Another fun filled day of sport. I went to Manchester with The Chunkster for the opening day of the Magic Weekend at the Etihad Stadium where we watched 4 Super League Rugby League games in one day, culminating with Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriers. It was a glorious sunny day and the crowd built throughout the day. We were sat in a big block of Leeds Rhino's fans so I felt at home.

Some of the games were closer than others, but they were all high scoring until the Leeds game, which was a narrow defeat for Leeds, but it was action packed with two mass brawls, 3 sin binnings, and a dissallowed try for Leeds in the closing minutes which would have pinched the game, which we our performance didn't really deserve.

This is picture from before the games started which shows some of the many fans from all the different clubs mingling outside the stadium. I have given the picture a paint effect to try and evoke the impression of Lowry who painted so many classic scenes in and around Salford and Manchester.
