Doha Days

The lure of The Corniche to cool off as the sun begins to set...

The dhow had been the nautical staple of the Arab world since the Biblical/Quran days. These 21st century versions have air con and GPS but in every other respect have little changed in the basic design. The wooden cabin at the stern is a WC - a closet without water and a chute straight into the sea!

These sanitary arrangements are no deterrent to the harbour wall fishermen intent on catching their supper. Equally intent were the harbour cats hoping to hijack the catch for themselves.

Back at our villa ,as I write this journal, I am being dive bombed by some large but benign flying beetles. Tiggy is less convinced by their benign intentions!
