Closed Sunday

Lewis is closed on Sunday. The 'free' churches have a stranglehold on what people can do on Sunday. The church car parks are packed, no one seems to leave their house, definitely no washing out, no shops or cafés open, no fun allowed. I went running around Stornoway expecting Blake's finger of a god to do for me. He missed.

But things are changing very slowly. A ferry now runs and flights land. When the ferry from North Uist to Leverborough was mooted there was lots of opposition. However demonstrations about the first sailing did not take place .... Because it was on a Sunday!

The picture is of a bus shelter on Lewis. There are lots of these; grey concrete, obviously part of a job lot bought by the council.
