It's addictive!
Three nights moth trapping in my tiny garden and I'm completely hooked. I felt impelled to start doing it as this patch of Buckinghamshire has fewer moth records that anywhere else in the county. At a meeting of the Buckinghamshire Invertebrate Group (BIG), when this was reported, I felt almost personally responsible and swiftly agreed to start recording. As long as you've got a few hours spare each morning to pore over books to identify your catch it is great...and I am getting quicker.
This is a wonderful Poplar Hawkmoth, Laothoe populi, the largest moth I caught last night, closely followed by a lovely Puss Moth, Cerura vinula. I still have some Pugs to identify so maybe I'll give tonight a miss.
