Reunion of the Lion, Tin Man, and the Scarecrow

Three of these gentlemen have been friends since Kindergarten; one more gentleman joined the group since the 3rd grade. They went through high school together and then most went through University together. They gathered when ever the opportunity presented itself either it being during someone's holiday trip, conference, bachelor party, weddings, (even one's movie premier) and now this New Year's eve. It seems once in a blue moon is appropriate here.

There was a lot of reminiscing of school plays (Wizard of OZ in Kindergarten), old school parties, school fights (only to defend the honor of one's 3rd grade 'girl friend'), high school ski trips, spring break trips, and a month long hiking adventure out west. We heard a lot of tales about the trouble they got into and somehow escaped -almost unscathed. We heard about how as young boys they gathered their collective knowledge on how to meet girls and its varied success.

As the final hour fast approached we all recalled the most memorable New Year's Eve of past, the best of 2009, and what we hoped for 2010. My sweetheart and I told one NYE story of how we were in the Vallais of Switzerland, staying in a chalet that was nearly buried in 6 feet of snow, where after a hearty cheese fondue dinner our group made its way to the top of the mountain, set off fireworks as the church bells filled the valley, and we sled down a mile long torch lit path, warmed by the passing thermos of mulled wine. It was dreamy.

The Lion, the Tin man, the Scarecrow, & everyone else had a funny and sometimes disgusting story to tell. It was great being together, perfect. We laughed so hard on this, the last night of 2009. The stories of so many adventures, discoveries, and accomplishments. So much to laugh over, reminisce, and be thankful for.

And on a Blue Moon, too!
