New Ambitions

Having worked in adult learning for some 25 + years it was a real inspirational for me to hear about the Scottish Government's plans for adult learning. Scotland's Learning Partnership hosted the event, at South Bridge Resource Centre and what a seat of adult learning that building has been over the years.

Today was interesting for me because I worked on a national development project with the then HMIe almost 20 years ago. That project tried to do something similar, but stopped short of anything successful, so I'm hopeful this one will have a better outcome.

What struck me today was one thing only and one truly amazing thing, I think we have a cabinet secretary who is willing to take a chance and believe in real people and that really is something to be welcomed. Adult learning is critical to many people in our society and as I have said many times before in my blips, it's a privilege to be in my position. I work everyday with people who have changed their lives through their involvement in adult learning and want to give something back.

So I think this statement of ambition is for all of them too, they deserve it.
