Balsillie School of International Affairs
This is the courtyard of the Balsillie School of International Affairs in Waterloo, ON. It was founded in 2007 by Jim Balsillie of RIM and in concert with the University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier University, and CIGI (Centre for International Governance Innovation). It's a lovely building with a serene space at the centre for conversation or contemplation.
I was invited to attend and participate in the 3-day Science-Policy Interface: International Comparisons Workshop in which about 50 people have come from far and wide to share knowledge, observations, and thoughts on recent science-policy matters in Canada, the US, the UK, Europe, and eslewhere. It's fascinating stuff and I'm very fortunate to be able to discuss ideas with some outstanding scholars on the subject.
