Ramblings from Zambia....

the balancing act..........

Good day at work - lots done. Went out for pizza at lunchtime with a colleague which was lovely as its a real treat here!

This afternoon was out and about and spotted these girls doing a balancing act as they carried their sweet potatoes to sell at the market. In Mzuzu we have 3 main markets but many mini markets and you can buy anything from a bicycle wheel to nuts and bolts, to fruit and vegetables to second hand clothes!

As for the election results......we are still waiting and watching.....results are being sent in by fax machines because the electronic systems they had in place in the cities has broken down. From the rural areas of course votes are taken by hand! Its now between Peter Mutharika (a brother of a previous President) and Lazarus Chakwera, a church minister.........and its really close so we just have to wait!! In town today its really quiet - not sure why, maybe people think there will be violence when the President is announced - I really hope not!
