Ready for metamorphosis

This narrow-bordered five-spot burnet moth caterpillar was climbing a grass stem, looking for a suitable place to make its chrysalis, an elongated or spindle-shaped yellowish or white cocoon. Around mid-June the spectacular red and black day-flying moths will emerge and be seen feeding on flowers such as knapweeds and scabious.

The regime of painkillers and exercise seems to be working, and I'm now able to walk a reasonable distance, though not particularly fast. I can stretch my right leg much further and am at last able to get my socks on easily! The only problem is that the painkillers do make me rather sleepy...but at least that's preferable to being in agony!
