Mattheus Enjoying the Camp Fire

We went to Rietspruit Safaris with quite a big group of our friends, all of them members of the Neighborhood Watch.

We arrived Friday late afternoon, just after sunset and found most of the group sitting around the campfire already. They were busy cooking steaks and 'boerewors' on the coals and baking awesome homemade bread in the handmade cylinder 'oven', in the middle of the picture, just behind the fire, they put hot coals underneath as well as on top of the makeshift oven, and just close the lid with the dough inside! They had 'mealiepap' or maize porridge with a lovely tomato and onion relish, with loads of other tasty ingredients! What a feast, and great company!

Mattheus, the farm dog, enjoyed the heat of the fire just as much as we did, it is really cold, especially after sunset!
