Synod
Synod is a little like the AGM of the Anglican Church - an annual meeting where budgets are approved, legislation is changed, various actions considered, and everyone catches up on all the past year's news from around the diocese. The Tasmanian Synod is very friendly, everyone knows each other (or knows of), and the various food breaks are full of chatter and laughter, with a few significant huddles forming in the corners to nut out the fine points of an upcoming motion.
I drove up on Friday morning, hoping to stop for a photo somewhere, but the wet conditions slowed me down so I ran out of time. Before the evening session we were invited to Holy Trinity Launceston to hear from a youth ambassador for an Anglican mission and have some nibbles. Rowena spoke very well, the food was pretty tasty, and the church very brown. I couldn't quite make up my mind about the architecture of it really.
At the end of a long day I found my way to my friends' house, chatted briefly and then fell into bed and off to sleep.
