A(nother ) Soggy Bank Holiday!
I have mixed feelings about today's blip. I took lots of pictures today of the carts entered in the Churchill Challenge Soapbox Derby - a local event which involves entrants building carts. They then take turns to ride their carts down the hill from the Warble-in-tun pub (now The Black Duck) onto Kingsley Hill (where Brian Epstein once lived and entertained the Beatles)! The cart that manages to roll furthest up Kingsley Hill is the winner. The challenge involves the negotiation of a tricky bend. Spectators are protected by hay bales, but I have never felt the need to stand there!! We always watch from the relative safety of Kingsley Hill where we can dive into driveways if necessary.
Today's blip is of Nedley Noo watching from his jogger. The boy must have a 6th sense! He didn't like it and kept telling me so. Zac Quack was watching with his friends from the hay bales!!!! He came to ask if he could go back with his friends and had just gone back to tell them he could when a roar from the crowd indicated a crash! I was halfway back to the car and Mr C was on his way to get Z. Anyway, it turned out that a cart had crashed into the crowd resulting in some nasty injuries to children!!! Zac was alright, but that was just luck!! Our thoughts are with the injured children, and I don't think we'll be going again!! :-(
