Birthday Surprise

The 6th is my roommate/best friend/honorary brother's birthday. So tonight on my lunch break I went down to the Whole Foods which I work right close to and bought a bunch of beautiful sweets for him. A gorgeous mixed fruit cheesecake tart thingy and a variety of other smaller tidbits of yumminess that I knew he'd LOVE since he's pointed them out to me almost every time we go grocery shopping. I did really well at work so I got to leave early, thank goodness so my plan was put into immediate action. Raced home in the snowy streets and just made it there right before midnight, 11:56 to be exact. Got to walk in the door with treats in hand and wish him a happy birthday right at midnight. He was totally surprised because usually I don't get out of work until midnight and home by 12:20 or so... it was awesome to surprise him since he's been feeling a little down recently. I, of course, snapped a picture of one of the goodies in the second before he started devouring it... he kept saying "Damn, Bran- this good!!" and smiling from ear to ear. The smile- made it all worth it.
