The Faroe Islands

We've fallen in love with Torshavn.

I came some years ago and it poured all day. I was on a bus trip and hardly remember much apart from the weather.

Today it was dry. Overcast and chilly, but we all fell in love with this tiny capital. Sometimes it's best just to explore. The path along the water's edge. The government buildings (they're the ones in bright red at the front with green grass roofs). The marvellous 17C church with ships hanging from the ceiling shaped like a boat.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming and wanted to tell us about their island.

We were asked if we were from Scotland. We were told about how pleased they were that English soldiers arrived during the War.

One of my friends didn't want to leave. I can understand.
