Take it to the Bridge
After a rainy weekend it was good to have a dry Bank Holiday Monday with spells of sunshine.
Spokes and I took advantage of the weather and finally did what we'd been planning to do since February and returned to the Edgelands for a walk...
We started off back under Junction 1 of the M53 and walked over this bridge to spend a lovely morning at the former Bidston Moss landfill site which has been transformed over the last few years. It was once unsafe for public access but it's now a nature reserve!
We even had a sunny snooze on a jetty at the fishing lake, with lapping water, the sounds of wildfowl and the rustling of a light breeze through the reeds in our ears. Bliss! If it hadn't been for the sound of the motorway and the view across to the disused Mobil warehouse at Birkenhead docks we could've believed that we were somewhere quite rural!
After a hard morning's wandering and napping we headed into Oxton Village for lunch (and takeaway cake!) and whiled the afternoon away doing the crossword in the park.
If only there was more time for days like this!
