Doha Days

We had another international day event on one of our campuses today. These signs caught my eye as they linked our previous Polish life with our current Arabic one!

It was so hot today that I had to curtail an assembly due to the high temperature. We are now going to upgrade our air con in this assembly hall.

Later, driving home from an evening meeting I had to negotiate three roundabouts. I am not sure what it is really like to be a neutron in a centrifuge but the speed and the headlights and the accompanying sense of disorientation certainly felt like being in one! The Qataris don't really understand roundabouts and there is a roundabout extermination programme in full swing and crossroads and traffic lights are taking over. All the roundabouts have nicknames eg Burger King, Petrol Station, TV (next to Al Jazeera Studios) etc. The nickname outlives the extermination and the crossroads are still referred to as roundabouts ! Now where is that centrifuge?!
