Soggy foxgloves!
Yesterday was a day of almost constant rain, with the odd, very brief dry spell (10-15 minutes each perhaps). We have had a huge amount of rain in the past week but it must be doing the garden good and it means I don't have to water anything! Even the houseplants are outside enjoying the rain- the raindrops wash the dust off of the leaves and the nights are mild enough to leave them out too.
I have a few of these foxgloves dotted around the garden and they were given to me last year by my Mum as very young mail-order plug plants. They have since grown huge and are now flowering, being a biennial species. They vary in colour, a couple being quite a dark pink, one a creamy white and some pale pink as with this one. What I love about this one in particular is the gradual colour change from cream to pink as each bud opens and ages, giving the effect of a change in colour down the stem.
Foxgloves are most definitely my favourite plant, they are just stunningly beautiful.
