A wee taste of the Royal visit

This morning I scurried down to our local park where the Earl and Countess of Strathearn were to be unveiling a plaque to commemorate the park as a Queen Elizabeth II Field in Trust. It was great fun gathering on the slopes of the park in front of a burn and by the time they arrived this area was full with wave bearing spectators. The grassy space nearest to where the Royals would be was cordoned of, especially for school groups. Some of the chat nearby was hilarious, one woman proclaiming how awful it must be to be a royal as you couldn't just put out your hand and swipe your husband !! The children were all very patient, some clutching bunches of flowers and others a teddy or two in the hope of catching a glance from either Kate or Will. The car bringing the couple eventually arrived at the park preceded by a splendid massed pipe band gathered from the local area and then they alighted to meet local dignitaries. After the brief ceremony the children were in luck as the pair had a really good walkabout along the lines where the children were corralled and it was particularly great to see Kate responding with alacrity to the high fives. I hope the collage brings you a flavour of the morning.
