Deadly but Beautiful?
Government ready to move ahead with standardised cigarette packets.
Independant reports found it was 'very likely to have a positive impact' on public health and stop children from starting smoking.
Saw these very beautiful looking cigarettes on my work colleagues desk this afternoon. Was shocked to see how these colourful cigarettes were so attractively displayed in lovely box called 'Cocktail'.
Packs like these are acting like secret salesmen! They should be banned!
Standardised packaging should be introduced, I admit, those who smoke already, probably won't be effected by the pictures of damaged gums and teeth or throat cancer on packaging. But if they effect even a small percentage of children in time it will make difference.
Adverts for cigarettes were banned on TV in 1965, a complete ban on all forms of advertising across all media in 2005. Smoking in bars and public spaces in 2007. (Eesh I still remember when u could smoke at the back of a plane!)
Anyway it's up for major debates in many countries, and we shall see what happens.
