Seafood Diet

Today Steve, my mycological friend came over and we spent most of the day working on our blog and looking at ways of sharing the data we are amassing about the fungi we are finding at Longshaw Estate. It's great that the National Trust are supporting us on this project. Longshaw is already known as a nationally important site for fungi, and we hope to gain more formal recognition for that, and even elevate it to international importance. My contribution is mainly the blog and a few photos, whereas Steve is a real expert and spends hours looking through a microscope to identify some of our finds. It isn't the easiest field to be involved in, as not only are there many thousands of fungi species, but the powers that be are always changing the nomenclature. Then we have what Steve calls the Lumpers (who lump things together) and Splitters (who want to break things down into even more species).
I'm supposed to be trying to lose a bit of weight, but this has not been a good week, calorie-wise. 3 pub lunches! Steve and I had fish and chips at our local - amazing value at 2 for £5 - then I cooked a seafood pasta dish for tea. Seafood, and eat it!
