Spotted
Spotted
As usual at coffee time a wander round the garden to see what’s about. Several slowworms were around, the newest young blackbird, a nursery spider motionless on a leaf. I look on the osteospermum flowers more in hope than expectation but yes there’s not one but two tiny spotted creatures. They are about 8mm in length with very long feelers. There was one earlier in the week but it leapt before I could take a photo. They are the nymph stage, probably first instar, of the speckled bush cricket. The nymphs enjoy feeding on the pollen.
