Crab-spider
The last day of May already. How time flies.
Today’s amazing mini beast spotted on the morning’s garden safari is this Crab-spider misumena vatia. I found it on one of the white & blue iris. It was tiny body about 6mm I would guess. It behaved just like a crab as it moved sideways and when threatened spread out its front legs in defence. This one was almost white with yellow markings. They like pale coloured flowers and can alter their colour over several days to blend in with their host flower. They catch bees and other flying insects.
