Peace by the riverside
After staying up late to see the badger we were up early to see if we could see it again. No luck this time. Plenty of sparrows were up too and noisily chattering away outside. The day looked promising so we went to Arbrichan Forest for a walk down to the bird hide. Something was making a noise and we think it was bats as the same noise was coming from the box outside. A few ducks and butterflies around. Spotted a toad scurrying through the undergrowth.
It was an experience using the 'longdrop' toilet. Had to hold my breath and hope the flies stayed away , yuk !
Went to Drumnadrochit and bought some fish and chips and wanted somewhere nice to sit and eat it so drove down a small road and ended up at a carpark opposite a ruined church. Saw a sign saying footpath so after we had eaten we headed down the track towards a wooded area. What a super walk fantastic to see all the wildflowers and hear all the birds. The path took us down by the river and to this point where we watched a pied wagtail flying up high and catching flies for it's young that were on the bank.
Flowers that surprised me were a variety of aquilegia in all colours and a magnificent display of lupins.
Now, on our way back we had a choice of several tracks but went down a track different to the one we had come along on and said hello to a man who was walking his dog. Now this man had a camera and a tripod and I knew there was a blipper from the area and it was when he said ' Come on Midge ' I thought this had to be Highland scape and it was, what a coincidence. Great to meet another blipper and also the very cute Midge :)
