Cricket tea

Today involved my annual good deed for the village cricket team, doing the teas. A particularly good deed I must say as I have absolutely no connection with the cricket team whatsoever! (Just polishing the halo).

My preparations and short cuts yesterday paid off as this time it only took me two hours from start to finish. They were suitably grateful and I got a bit of help from P, an Indian chap who's staying with U and D from the village shop. What a sweetie. I think I could have provided a third as much again and it'd have been eaten. Note to self for next time.

Thank goodness the kitchen was lovely and clean unlike the ant infested horror I faced last time. I guess it is still early in the season so next year I'm going to volunteer early on again before the kitchen has a chance to degenerate into filth.

I had a lazy morning, skipping church, reading and listening to the Archers Omnibus and Biddy Baxter's Desert Island Discs. I didn't have quite enough rolls for the teas so popped into Tescos and also picked up a nice iced latte from Costa.

I practised some manual photography in the garden but preferred this iPhone snap to represent my day.

I'm making chicken soup from the carcass of the roast we had earlier in the week and will have a quiet evening catching up with some telly before an early night.
