Above the clouds....
Yes there were a lot of clouds. I felt every lumpy one of them. My stomach rolled for most of the journey.
The nicest thing about today's journey - I always hate leaving my beautiful Scotland anyway - was that for the first time ever I was not carrying my work laptop with me. I felt as light and airy as errrrm....a pigeon. I was working from 'home' last week but as I'd spend all day last Sunday getting my old Dell which had been languishing behind the armchair in the front room in Brum perfectly set up, I used that all week. I had dad's old creaky PC downstairs as backup. It was lovely to pack it away after a successful week and leave it there for next time.
It was an earlier fight (11:50am) today. The train from Ayr Station to Paisley Gilmour Street was quiet and so was the flight link bus. I was at the airport for 10:15 and had loads of time to spare. I wandered around the perfume part determined to find an alternative to my Dior Addict. I stupidly tried four or five different varieties of Chanel, none of them were as nice as my Dior so I will stick with it (and the memories associated with it).
All the Chanel perfumes were like fly spray in the end and I stumbled to my departure gate with my eyes watering and seriously gassed with all the smells! My stomach rolled and my head thumped. There was horrific cheesy lift music coming out of the plane speakers when I first got on. Who writes this tuneless keyboard shit? Does someone really jump out of bed in the morning saying 'Great! I've just had another great irritating dirge pop into my head!'
I had a lady sat next to me for a change. She stared at me wordlessly when I moaned about the music. She redeemed herself when she ordered a little bottle of wine for herself. I always feel like a dreadful person getting a drink and disturbing the person sat next to me who is either asleep or only having tea. This lady was virtually in the aisle flagging down the trolley! I looked quite civilised for a change. She wanted Prosecco but the flight attendant told her that there were loads of women on the flight the previous day seeing a boy band in Glasgow and they bought up all the sparkly wine. I wouldn't want to witness anything like that sober either... Anyway, she had a white wine and I had my brandy and ginger (to go with my hair).
After she had gulped her wine she decided to take a picture out of the window. She burst into hysterics after as she had held her phone the wrong way round and taken a selfie in error. I confirmed it was definitely her and encouraged her to have another go.
Soon after that, we were descending to Brum International Airport. The plane had been very hot and uncomfortable and one of the little boys behind me started crying. I tried not to listen (or breathe) but the one behind me decided to throw up before his mother could get a sick bag to him! He started crying even more as he had puked up over his new t-shirt. His brother wasn't helpful at all shouting 'Urrrrrrrggggghhhhh!' and laughing. The mother was saying 'Don't worry darling! It will wash off!'
Horrors!
I'd better finish now as I'll be waffling all night at this rate...
