Hoar Frost at Lake Pearson

What a treat of a day! Seven of us headed up to Lake Pearson, on the way to Arthurs Pass in Southern Alps, with our kayaks. When we arrived there was quite thick fog lying over the lake, which was a dream to paddle through; so moody and evocative. And then as it gradually drifted away, leaving hoar frost on the trees, we were left with utterly magical views. I'm not sure which I prefer, the moody foggy images or this beautiful clear image with the hoar frost on the trees reflected in the lake. I've chosen this one so that you can share just how beautiful it really was.

Yes it was cold, but we'd rugged up well. You should have heard the shrieks of glee as we paddled through the surface ice. Such fun! (beats shifting out of your house, any day).
