Ohau C becomes Lake Benmore

After patchy results yesterday we headed back towards Twizel today, along the side of Ohau C canal and down to the edge of Lake Benmore. There we launched the boats.

A chilly -6 start

With a much more open stretch of water and no nearby hills or mountains to block the sun, I was able to remove a couple of my 8 layers. All day Aoraki Mt Cook and surrounding mountains were in our view. It was magic.

I have the tale of the one that got away and a couple of more modest trout that didn't escape. They'll end up in the smoker once I'm shifted into my temporary accommodation.
