Day7- Harris
Taking down the tent this morning in the rain was executed with military precision under the supervision of the colonel- in -chief, His Lordship.
The mist was down low as we left Balranald, and the route to the ferry at Berneray was through a sodden landscape of lochans and peat banks.
Harris was also under a shawl of clouds when we arrived in Leverburgh, and the driving up to Liceasto, where we are staying, was quite scary with single track roads and passing places obscured by cloud.
But when we arrived at our idiosyncratic campsite, the sun came out and cleared the mist to reveal the most beautiful landscape of hills and lochs, with the peace and quietness almost unbelievable to a couple of townies. Hens strolled about under our feet as we were shown to our yurt for our stay tonight and the secluded area we have to pitch our tent for tomorrow.
The tent is drying in the black house which serves as the communal area with shower and toilets.
We have found WiFi in Tarbert this lunch time, but Liceasto is much too isolated to have any Internet connection. I'll be surprised if there is any phone connection either.
At the campsite, we have already earmarked our outside sitting area over looking the loch for our glass of wine tonight.
