A Tribute to Sammy
About six years ago, Manny, a long time friend of ours built the office/garage/storage/loft building that is shown on the right side of this photo with the help of his apprentice, Sammy. A few years later Manny and Sammy created the deck that joins the building to our house. Sammy was honing his contractor skills and asked us to trust him to build an adjacent laundry room to match the spanish style of our house. We agreed and he did a wonderful job. Sammy had issues with alcohol in his younger days but had overcome those demons and had been a very responsible, diligent craftsman for many years. I loved working with Sammy. He was bright and articulate with a great sense of humor that made him fun to be around. Sammy's liver finally gave up last week and he died a few days ago. I will miss Sammy and we will think of him often as we enjoy the deck that stands as a tribute to his workmanship.
Thanks Sammy.
