Long Beach Nite Lites
One of the co-owners of the Grumman Tiger that Peggy flies (see taegan1) is married to a talented singer who performs anywhere from Disneyland to country bars. Tonight she was performing as part of a duo in the Observation Bar of the ocean liner Queen Mary. That was enough information for us to pick that as the final stop for a date night. We started at Tequila Jacks, an outdoor restaurant on the water in Shoreline Village in Long Beach. With a mango marguarita and some fajitas filling us beyond contentment we strolled the waterfront boardwalk and browsed the little shops that line the village and beckon for tourist dollars. Kelly Rae would begin her set at 9 so we drove the short hop over the harbour to where the Queen Mary has been berthed for decades and enjoyed some great live acoustical ballads while enjoying the spectacular view of Long Beach Harbour. We had never been to the Queen Mary before and nextime we will allow 3 or 4 hours more to explore her grandeur.
