The (Not so) Common Orchid
In my front garden - also known as my 'wild-life' garden, there is a clump of Common Orchids. They are just coming into bloom.
It is the only location locally that I know of where these attractive plants grow, hence the title.
They are easily identified by their strap like leaves that are covered in black spots, as well as the cone of pale pink flowers with deeper pink or purple markings that look remarkably like droopy boobs
This year there are not as many plants as usual. I have no idea whether it is to do with climate change or the wet spring.
It is a great excuse not to cut the grass!!!
