Cuba - yellow bird
Yellow bird high up in banana tree.... Actually not in a banana but in Cuba
Loved Cuba slower pace of life, almost no cars except pre USA embargo vintage. Ie about 1959.
Well dressed people who are kind and friendly, apart from a few persistent beggars. Much transport of locals by donkey cart! As we left there was a USA trade delegation along with delegates from many other countries. After fifty years plus I understand he was the first USA official to visit. Quite nice with no big corporate chain stores. However Cubans have really been made to pay. Hence limited oil, almost no cars, and the forced reliance on natural remedies rather than western medicine. They do have free education free health care, and basically everyone has a house. Access to modern technology has been so limited and any other country that wants to trade is severely jumped on. When a large country treats a small poor country this way it seems like bullying.
Visited Bay of Pigs and swam over the corals. The USA missiles sitting in Turkey pointing at Russia, lead to the plan to put Russian missiles in the Bay of Pigs in Cuba pointing at USA. That never happened but the embargo punishment started and grew stricter. Trade and financial transactions banned only exchanges can occur. Action and reaction.
