Cienfuegos Cuba - Architectural beauty

This grand building was once a home but was nationalised and now is between a museum and venue for functions. Each room has a different architectural style. For a few dollars we could admire some of the inside and then climb first the grand marble staircase, then the narrow wrought iron circular staircase to the very top, where we were served drinks to sip while we took in the marvellous view of the harbour and surrounds, plus enjoyed the cooling breeze. You can just see a glimpse of the red awning on top.
This peninsular was once and still is a very upmarket area and this house had the prime location. The Yacht club is nearby. Cienfuegos was originally set up by the French and is in better condition than most of the other Cuban areas we visited. It was away from the fighting. There is a classic grand square at the city centre with schools city council, church and business homes, surrounding the square, while the pavements are marble.
