The Wrecks
Up early this morning and down to breakfast by 7.45. Super buffet breakfast, with a great choice of cereals, fruits, juice, and all the usual eggs, sausages, black pud, haggis, bacon, etc etc etc. Kept us going for our walk.
Then off to Salen where we started our walk over the hills to Gruline. Quite a challenging walk, good path, sometimes rock, sometimes grass, but a bit of mud at times.
After our walk Tom hitched a ride back to the car in order to come and pick the other three up, but while we were waiting a lady came along in her car..... in the other direction...... and asked us if we needed a lift. She insisted on turning her car and taking us to where Tom was, which saved us a bit of time, and was so good of her.
Back together we went for coffee and superbe carrot cake in a little cafe in Salen, then headed back towards Craignure, and couldn't resist taking the blip of the wrecks with the Sound of Mull in the background. Checked various timings etc on the way. We had a wee diversion to Duart Castle, just because we could, and I took some pictures there.
Then we boarded the ferry for Oban, but after everyone was on it was discovered they had a fault in the hydraulics and the big door on the car deck would not close properly. So we had an hour's delay while a part was picked up and fitted.
From Oban we drove south to Crianlarich where we had a lovely fish and chip tea in the hotel there, and then we continued down Loch Lomondside on a very quiet road to arrive home around 10.30pm after a very full day.
Slept like a log!!!!
Looks good in large mode!
