#Cataract Surgery, #Bangladesh
The World Health organisation estimates that cataract is responsible for 51% of world blindness. Although cataracts is treatable through surgery, many people in developing countries are often unable to reach medical services, which are mainly based in urban areas; or they are unable to find the means to pay for treatment.
These patients photographed above have just undergone surgery on board our Jibon Tari floating hospital in Bangladesh, helping them to see again.
With our floating hospital on the rivers of Bangladesh, our Lifeline Express hospital train in India and our mobile surgical camps - we are taking the hospital to impoverished communites across Africa and Asia, helping those who would otherwise go without medical assistance.
Thanks to our strong links with local partners each operation costs just £40 - and provides a life changing opportunity to help those living in rural communities attend school again or get back to work to help provide for their families.
If you would like to help us in our action to prevent and treat needless disability then please text CURE23 £40 (or alternative amount) to 70070.
Thank you.
