Hard Not To Be Annoyed
On February 20th I went for my bi-annual eye test at Specsavers, the optician saw something that troubled her so stopped the tests and gave me a letter, marked URGENT to hand deliver direct to the doctors.
At the doctors surgery I handed it to the receptionist and asked "when can I expect to hear from the doctor"
"When he's ready"
Off I went home, twenty-four hours later I hadn't heard so I phoned; "Has the doctor read the opticians letter yet please"
"If he has he'll phone you"
Twenty-four hours later I still hadn't heard so I rang and asked for a doctors 'call back' appointment. When she rang I explained what had happened; "I haven't seen the letter Mr Stevens, I'll read it and call you straight back"
An hour later she rang back - the receptionist had lost the letter - a second one was faxed up by Specsavers, an hour after that I had been referred to Treliske.
Wind forward to May 16th, I see the consultant at Helston, following the appointment he writes to the Westover Surgery telling them two markers from my blood test required urgent attention.
Move to today and the same consultant asks me what medication my GP has put me on to treat my condition - I look at him blankly - he appears non plussed I'm annoyed and that's putting it mildly.
Straight from the hospital to the surgery, same smug receptionist tells me my blood is fine.
Since when does a receptionist with the same IT skills as my sixteen year old daughter, no medical training, all the charm of a cobra and without a shred of common courtesy or compassion get to fob of patients
