The Hargraves
For my Advanced Photojournalism (JOMC 480) course I have been working on a photo essay on Northside, a historically-African American, predominantly-working class community in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The community is facing gentrification as students create demand for high density housing and developers flood in, pricing out the residents who have lived there for years.
The William M. Hargraves Community Center is at the heart of Northside and hosts community events such as Town Hall meetings and Project Connect, a one-stop resource center for Orange County residents who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
