The Food Ministry

St. Joseph’s runs a food ministry out of the church, which allows community members to pick up and take home food that would otherwise be thrown away by local grocery stores. According to UNC's APPLES, the food ministry serves roughly 500 families a week. Emily, a widow who recently moved to Northside from Georgia after losing her job as a cargiver, picks out fruit. She said she comes to the food ministry about once a week.
