Esk

Nearly ran out of dog food today, so headed off to get some more from Costco - much much cheaper, so the boot was loaded up.
We then headed off to a fantastic material outlet that had been recommended to me by an interior designer. It's based near the airport, so we had a snowy drive along the unused road to get there. I am still looking for some material to make the soft furnishings for our lounge once the new suite arrives. We bought it in November and are still waiting. Hopefully we'll still like it when it arrives! The materials were beautiful and it's fair to say I saw so many that would suit everything from the new glass fronted flats at the ocean front to baronial mansions, but only one for us. Did a quick mental maths total - gasp - the material would be £585 then threads, lining, tape etc could easily hit £750 and that's for only one set of curtains, never mind the cushions etc. Hmmmm, a bit expensive. Left with inspiration and our wallets intact, for now!

Back via the River Esk to feed the ducks. The ice floats had arrived in the last day or two and the ducks were still getting to grips with landing on ice. We saw a few skid, crash and belly flop across the river. They became quite territorial and very feisty when they were being fed, hence the fast exit of this one stage right!

Back home soon after as we were playing host to the "teenagers getting ready to go before a party" i.e. having free access to showers, towels, room to change, tea and taxi. In their absence the room's prepared for their late return with spare beds made up, floor clear, clothes tidied up off the floor, front light left on, door oiled so we can't tell what time they get back, but I'll know 'cause mothers don't sleep until all the chicks are back in the nest.
