Sitting on the dock of the bay
Town landing was awesome today. After work I went to get a photo because I knew tonight was going to be busy. Our chorus is having our annual yard sale tomorrow. I went over with some others tonight to price everything. We worked from 5 to 930. I am exhausted.
I can not believe how much stuff we went through. I can't believe what people donate. I can only assume that somewhere in a landfill there is a pile of cool stuff that should have been there and the boxes that I went through at first were the ones that should have been taken to the dump.
I have some rules about donating stuff to a yard sale. As many of you know.... I am big on the rules.
1) NO ONE and I repeat no one wants your underwear. That includes spanx and bras. And there are extra skank points if you pick up a pair of jeans to fold and put into the pants box and as a bonus a pair falls out the leg. ( I have a hysterical and I mean hysterical story about this happening to me once. I will share sometime)
2) only really really crazy people donate single socks.
Only really really REALLY crazy people buy single socks. You don't want either of them at your yard sale.
3) half burned candles are trash. No one wants your half burned candles. If there is dust on them that's even better. Gross.
4) shoes.....if you won't wear them , no one else will either.
5) everything plastic should be 10 cents. Seriously plastic has a limited lifespan.
6) mint condition vintage means that it was ugly then and someone hid it away. It's still ugly. Trust me.
7) the 80s had some really ugly jewelry. I relived all the bad years putting the earrings out on the rack tonight.
8) shoulder pads.........bad
9) shoulder pads in 2014........punishable by a year in prison.
10) who in hell donates a toilet seat? There are no words here people.
11) if you are going to do this, do it with people you enjoy. I did tonight. I love these women.
I am falling asleep as I write this so I am signing off.
Tomorrow we are singing at the Cumberland farmers market. It will be a blast!
Until then,
Good night and to the world down under....g'day.
