Junebug Sculpture
Well tonight was the kick off of the Junebug Art Festival and as promised I went to photograph my brother-in-law’s sculpture. The 2014 sculpture is an arch fabricated from recycled metal tubing that is tall enough for people to walk under. The people that visit the sculpture will be encouraged to write a message on a piece of vinyl material in the shape of a leaf that will be attached to hooks on the metal tubing. This will give the sculpture a look of being alive with the vinyl ‘leaves’.
The sculpture is less representational of the June ‘bug’ itself and more focused on being interactive. This way, everyone feels they are apart of the experience.
It was a beautiful night. The streets downtown were packed with families and there was so much to do and see. The local TV station was there to record the festivities and they interviewed my brother-in-law sister and my niece and asked them about their sculpture. I caught this shot of them being interviewed.
